Always on the watch, the lone wolf watches over his pack. It is understood that when one sees a grey wolf, others are nearby. Along a well-traveled route, they were taught as pups just how and where they can blend into their surroundings. Always moving counterclockwise, the wolf patrols his area in a constant vigil.
In this scene, the alpha rests on an overlook watching over his den, ready to warn his family of eminent danger.
Often depicted as fierce, the heart of the wolf is dedicated to his family. A quality man would do well to emulate.
In my study for this fluorescent painting, I spent some time with a grey wolf. I learned appreciation for his intelligence and insight into the intensity of his existence. Could he even outsmart us?
